The Post About Podcasts

If you haven't noticed podcasts are currently a pretty big deal. Whether you're looking for the gripping crime thriller, a funny chin wag or an informative current affairs schpiel, there's a podcast for that and more. During my spare time I've always been one to sit down and watch TV or find myself in the deep depths of YouTube watching the most ridiculous videos (Exhibit A), however I've recently become obsessed with Podcasts. Trust me it's the good kind of addiction! I listen to them in the gym, before bed, whilst I get ready or even if I'm just walking back from university on my own. So, as a result of this new addiction, I thought I would share with you all some recommendations and a few of my faves. (I've separated them into categories, so there is hopefully one for everyone!)

THE GIRLY ONE

So this one is how I got into podcasts in the first place and my all time FAVE. At Home With by Lily Pebbles and Anna Gardner is a bloggers/youtubers/just every girls dream. In short they basically go to really inspirational and just cool womens houses and have a nosey about! They talk everything from lifestyle, makeup, house decor and business. Some examples of people they have interviewed include Jo Elvin, Lisa Eldridge, Zoe Sugg and Giovanna Fletcher. It's just a really easy listen with some insane women.

THE FEELING BROODY (or you are actually a mother...) ONE

I have a confession to make. I am probably the most broody 20 year old you will EVER meet. So when Giovanna Fletcher made a podcast alongside her award winning book, I jumped straight on that band wagon. Happy Mum, Happy Baby involves Giovanna herself interviewing her celebrity friends, asking baby and family related questions. She has interviewed people like Emma Willis, Frankie Bridge and her latest one her husband Tom Fletcher (which fyi is hilarious). This podcast has made me laugh and cry within the space of a mere few minutes, and has taught me so much that although isn't relevant at the moment, will hopefully be in the future (squeals at the thought of baby cuddles).

THE NERDY ONE

Blue Planet II the podcast is officially my favourite thing in the world. It basically says what it is on the tin, but in case you don't get it, its a 30 minute podcast published after the Sunday night Blue Planet episode on BBC1. Emily Knight and Becky Rippley interview all of the videographers, photographers, researchers and sound engineers involved in each individual episode, and it is honestly so interesting. Each person recalls different anecdotes from the last 5 years of filming. If you love Blue Planet as much as I do, you need to go grab your headphones and get listening!

THE SCARY ONE

So, confession time I actually haven't listened to this podcast...yet. Case File is a recommendation from my friend Lucy, who listened to the whole lot over the summer. It is basically a real life crime podcast that broadcasts actual audio clips from court cases and police calls. I think the fact that it is based on true fact rather than fiction, makes it that extra bit chilling. There are currently 65 episodes available, and you can find them here. Switch the lights on and happy listening!!

And that's you're lot! I hope you give some of these a listen, they are all 100% worth it. So go get a cuppa tea, snuggle down in your duvet, pop your headphones in and enjoy! Let me know your thoughts on the podcasts, and if you have any recommendations, pop 'em down in the comments below...

Lots of love, Katie xo
