BBQs & Beaches

A few months ago - and by a few I mean March... - the gang and I headed down to the seaside for a BBQ and a few drinks. The temperature reached double figures in the North East so it was inevitable really? I took a few snaps whilst I was there and thought I'd share them, alongside my top things I love about living by the sea (ok I really live in the city, but it's only a 20 minute metro trip...)!

Beaches In The Winter
Don't get me wrong I love the sunshine and summer holidays. I used to live in Portugal for goodness sakes, I am a massive beach baby! But needless to say, one of my favourite things to do is go to the beach in the winter, even in the rain. It reminds me of holidays when we were little in Wales, walking my Grandmas dog and then sheltering in a café and more recently a pub with a mug of hot chocolate (or a pint...). If it's not raining, you can always take a blanket to wrap around yourself, or squeeze your wetsuit on and go for a splash.

BBQs With Friends
My friends are so important to me. And as much as I love going on a night out to all the bars and clubs we can possibly steer our drunken feet towards, I find day trips and cute little get togethers just as exciting. When we went to the beach we managed to get roughly 25 of our extended friendship group together in one place and it was just so lovely. We would usually just grab some fish and chips (I mean who wouldn't) however this time we bought a few disposable BBQs from the Co-Op and cooked a few sausages and smores - bliss! Granted us girls were hopeless at cooking and managed to burn every single sausage we touched, but it was still a good laugh! Crack open a few bottles of Cava and you're good to go...

Rounders/Football
We didn't get round to playing any football or rounders on this occasion, however it's something my family and I always do at the beach - mainly due to the fact that both my brothers seem to have a football surgically attached to their feet 24/7! Markout your goals or posts using jumpers or shoes and pack a bat and ball in your bag - easy peasy! It's also a good thing to do if you have a big group of people who may not necessarily know each other all that well...the competitive sparks will soon show and get everyone giggling.

I hope you enjoyed this little (and very random) blog post and apologies for any anti summer vibes given off - we don't get much sun in the UK! Beaches are just so relaxing and deserve to be enjoyed by everyone at all times of the year. The memories you make will never fade.

(I hope you appreciate this extremely flattering photo of me - it's cute tho so who cares...)

Lots of love, Katie xo
