A Weekend In Kraków | Photo Diary

Over a rainy weekend in 2015 around Christmas time, my family and I decided to book an extremely last minute trip. The criteria was: "Wherever the cheapest flight will take us". So off to Kraków, Poland, we went!

I have some Polish friends so have always been interested in the country and culture, so needless to say, I was pretty excited. Especially since we were going around christmas time (my favourite time of year). Give me a hot chocolate in one hand and minced pie in another and I'm one happy bunny. We planned the trip over the following week, packed 5 bags and off we flew. Here are a few snaps of our weekend and the activities we ended up doing - enjoy!

Visiting the Christmas Market is a must! The food not only tastes incredible, but looks and smells insane.

Yes. That is all chocolate...

Make sure you bring many many layers - it gets very cold, very quickly!

We stayed in Hotel Starry which was just 5 minutes round the corner from the Market Square. It was a lovely, modern and cosy hotel with lovely facilities and the staff were so friendly and happy to help. I have also been told that there are thousands of AirBnB's around Kraków which are definitely worth a look into.

This photo was taken when we went down the Wieliczka Salt Mines which were beautiful and the tour guides were so informative.

One of the main reasons I was interested in Kraków in the first place was to visit Auschwitz. We spent a whole day there and it was one of the most disturbing and chilling things I have ever done. Words simply cannot describe. I'm sure if anyone has been they will understand that feeling that fills you when you step foot through those iron gates. It's something I believe everyone should go and experience whether that is for education, respect or curiosity.

I hope you enjoyed this post, Kraków is a beautiful city with more history in it's little finger than anywhere else in the world.

Lots of Love, Katie xo
